Selah is not a church or an institution, but rather a growing community of contemplative companions dispersed throughout the Puget Sound area and beyond.
The contemplative life deepens and strengthens within a community of practice who encourages, nurtures, risks, and challenges each other for the lifelong journey of discovering God in our lives and the world. While not a church or an institution, Selah is a vibrant welcoming community of companions and friends from around the world, mainly in North America, who come from a variety of life backgrounds and spiritual experiences, drawn together through the desire to pause, encounter the Spirit through spiritual practices, and grow together towards wholeness and loving others. By listening generously and responding freely to the presence and movement of God, the community of Selah seeks to embrace the way of Jesus the Christ who models what it means to live in a “rhythm of grace” posture that responds to the needs of our world.
Avenues for Connection
Kairos opens up space to encounter the Spirit, one another, and oneself through God’s inviting presence.
Coming together online each week, the community of Kairos provides a unique contemplative experience with a spiritual practice and breakout group that shares the time through silence, art, music, and teaching. Located in specific areas in the Pacific Northwest, the Gathering Hubs meet monthly to offer a spiritual practice.
To provide open doors for anyone interested in contemplative Soul Care opportunities, we host monthly Gathering Hubs for people to join whenever they can. In person, these groups are regionally located with a facilitator or team who offers a contemplative practice each time. By engaging with Selah in this way, one can identify the intention, values and expressions of the community with the hope of finding a home to accompany one on the contemplative journey.

Companions and Friends Gatherings
Selah offers deeper participation in community for those who consider themselves to be friends of Selah or for those who have been blessed by the community into the shared values and commitments of “Companions” with Selah.
For those desiring to make a deeper connection with God and one another, “Companions and Friends” Gatherings are for developing our contemplative capacities in an ongoing and meaningful way by living out of the heart with one another. We gather as a larger group at least four times a year and through conversation, engagement, and shared life join together to remember our spiritual practices and commitments.
- Online and in person gatherings
- Free with rsvp
From time to time, we offer groups to experience and learn a particular practice.
We gather together in groups to find support and grow in these contemplative practices. It could be a group gathering to practice Kabat-Zinn’s mindfulness meditation, the Ignatius’s Prayer of Examen, Keating’s Centering Prayer, or Bourgeault’s welcoming prayer, and others.
Joining in these opportunities specific to a certain practice, individuals encounter this time of contemplative living through an individual practice surrounded by others.
Explore the Events page to see if there are any accompanied practice events at this time or in the near future.
If there is a particular practice you would like to grow in, please let us know and we will see if there is others like you that want to meet together to develop in that practice.
