FACILITATOR BIOS

John Kiemele

John Kiemele is a wellbeing educator and spiritual director who currently companions individuals, teaches various seminars and lifestyle classes, leads contemplative retreats, and also serves as Program Director at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center in Andover, MA.  With a focus on contemplative soul care, John walks alongside individuals, small groups, classrooms and congregations.  Recognizing how intentional pausing and listening unlocks life, John strives to engage the whole person – body, mind, soul – in the lifelong process of living well.  John received his PhD in education/spirituality from Talbot School of Theology, with post-doctoral emphases in Spiritual Direction, Mindful Self-Compassion, the Enneagram Spectrum, and Wellness Coaching. He is also an ordained pastor who has served congregations across the US and Canada.  John enjoys baking, hiking, traveling, visiting cathedrals and monasteries, attending live theater, watercolor painting and rummaging through antique and thrift shops.

Marissa Fernandez Kiemele

Marissa is a board-certified physician who has been practicing for 25 years, specializing in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine.  Marissa completed her medical school at University of Alberta and her residency with University of Ottawa.  Besides Canada and the US, her medical work has taken her to South America, South Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean.  Her focus is on whole-person wellbeing – body, mind, soul – through the integration of western medicine and ancient wisdom traditions.  She is the founder of “AIM to Live Well,” a mindfulness-based transformational lifestyle-change program for living well and for prevention and treatment of chronic medical conditions.  She has taken culinary training in the US and Europe. Other interests include organic edible gardening, visiting organic farms and farmers’ markets across the globe, being in nature, and more recently learning watercolor painting and playing native American flute.
