WALKING

Walking up to 7 hours a day/7-13 miles, the Via Francigena section is a challenging route, especially for first-timers who have never done a multi-day walk/trek before. It’s physically demanding to walk an average of 10 miles daily, combined with a different lodging place each night. Take into consideration the need for training beforehand to handle the route.

Walker, your footsteps
are the road, and nothing more,
the road is made by walking.
Walking you make the road,
and turning to look behind
you see the path you never
again will step upon.
Walker, there is no road,
only foam trails on the sea.
