From a young age my goal
Was to share information,
To fix,
To appear smart.
Having answers all important.
Hard knocks meant my style didn’t work well,
Didn’t build solid relationships.
I learned about Active Listening in my late 20’s.
This helped me let people know I was listening…
Before I tried to fix.
A blessing when experienced,
I am curious how I seem more amenable to Generous Listening 
In contemplative settings.
With other personal relationships, I may not fix as often
Still, I may share my opinion,
Miss asking questions that go deeper.
Today, I receive an invitation
To meditate on the guidelines…
Practicing generous listening with my own heart.
Letting go of old familiar ways, intentional openness
Especially with those I care about.
Allowing us to be connected more deeply,
Growing in love,
Growing potential to share difficult feelings, experiences
Recognizing courage, bravery in sharing,
Received with kindness and gratitude.
Transforming….
